The PräDeck is designed to produce hardcover cases for single (assorted) as well as small series of books. With the PräDeck the two boards and the spine hollow are placed accurately and with the exact joint width on to the glued cover material. Standard delivery includes a set of joint bars of 8 mm width. Other widths as of 4 mm are available by request. The spine width can be adjusted very easily and quickly from 6 mm to 150 mm using a precise adjustment mechanism with a hand lever. By simply moving the board stops, the spine width can even be infinitely adjusted without a maximum width restriction. To produce multi-part covers, stops and additional folding bars are optionally available. The equipment features of the PräDeck also include a light table with integrated suction function. Standard features of the PräDeck include an illuminated table. Two centering lines on the table plate facilitate the alignment of pre-printed cover materials. Moreover, the machine is equipped with an adjustable stop to quickly align different cover widths and overlap.
Process
- The glued cover material is placed on the table and, in the case of unprinted covers, centered by means of two coloured scales. Printed cover materials are aligned by means of the illuminated table and the two centering lines on the table top.
- The table of the unit is equipped with holes and two fans underneath. Curling cover material can thus be sucked in by means of the foot pedal on the table to facilitate the laying of the boards.
- After the cover has been aligned, the guide angle is lowered by means of a hand lever. Then the spine hollow is placed between the joint bars. By closing the joint bars, the spine is centered automatically.
- Now, both boards are placed manually into the guide angles and pressed down for a moment.
- The guide angles can then be lifted, and the case is ready to be turned-in, for example on our PräKant turning-in machine.

Advantages
The size of the PräDeck makes it perfect for small businesses, as it is very compact and thus fits on any work table. It is not necessary to change over when the formats are constantly changing, which makes work much easier. Only the spine width may need to be adjusted - but this can be done very quickly and easily. A simple and user-friendly operation facilitates the work.
With the help of the light table, which also has auxiliary lines, covers with printed spines can also be centred ideally. The built-in suction function allows binding material to be fixed and prevents curling after gluing - without the use of pneumatics. The foot pedal must be operated to regulate the suction. The adjustable angle unit enables absolutely right-angled positioning of the cover boards and spine insert.
Process small and medium runs as well as constantly changing formats without format settings.
Whenever you want to fix the binding material, you can do so with the foot pedal.
